For a long time, people used capital letters to emphasize the points that they wanted to make. Today most readers react to capital letters the way that most people react to shouting. In the world of copywriting, to make an emphasis you will underline, bold, or use italics. You can do that plus use a font color other than black, such as red for example. Also… USING ALL CAPITAL LETTERS IS HARDER TO READ. Right? You can become much more flexible if you experiment and use these kinds of changes in format.
Emphasize the good things in your product but don’t ignore the bad. Make sure you make it clear that your product will be very useful to anyone who buys it. You know that there are definite benefits to using your product or services, spell these out. You want to make your product sound as good as possible. It’s also best, however, to admit that your product may be imperfect in some way. It’s good to admit, if only in passing, that your product has at least one weak point. People are more likely to trust a sales pitch that admits an imperfection or two. An honest appraisal of a product will be trusted more than an attempt to cover up any flaws. Just remember: emphasize the good more than you acknowledge the bad! The most important thing is to tell people what the product will do for them. Make a comprehensive list of all the benefits! Remember, you are very familiar with the product that you are trying to sell. You have all the information about it at your disposal.You may be an expert on it. You have to keep in ming that the people you are telling about your product will not be nearly so familiar with it.
It is best for you to act on the assumption that you have to explain everything about the product to these people. Include even the most seemingly basic facts about why this is such a great product. If your prospective customers are thoroughly familiar with your product’s qualities, they will be far more inclined to buy it than if they are uncertain about exactly what it does.
Copywriting often looks easy because the person who writes the copy is very good at what they do. But if you attempt it, you’ll see very fast that it’s not easy. The good news is that the more you work at it, the better at it you will be.
